anticipation

a few things we are looking forward to around here:

*Dave's 3 interviews that he has at the end of the month. We just bought a new suit for Dave today that looks really sharp. He's gonna knock 'em dead.

*Ana starts dancing class next week. She is so excited. She loves to put on her dancing clothes and listen to music. Her most requested songs: "fast ones" by Ben Folds, and Good Day Sunshine by the Beatles.

My new love

I rode this bike when I was in Logan on Saturday. It was really nice. It was the first time I actually got to ride a little on a nice road bike in my size.

I should probably tell you...

I have been invited for an interview on March 12 at UW. I am pretty excited and I want to prepare like CRAZY to do all I can to make them love me and such. I am not dead yet for this application cycle...

U of U Interview

The building where I will spend a TON of time if I get accepted to U of U.

The interview day started at 7:30. I was supposed be at the admissions office by 7:45 at the latest. So, I was planning on waking up at about 6:30 to get all ready and checked out of the hotel on time. I even set my phone alarm clock and the alarm clock in the room. I didn't need it. I woke up at 4:40 and could not get back to sleep. I tried to go back to sleep for about an hour before I just gave up. I was the first person in the lobby to get breakfast right at 6:00 when they were just putting it out. I stayed at the University Guest House that was right next to the medical school and hospital on campus. I saw a group of people in suits gathering in the lobby right when I was about to leave so I asked them if they were going to interview - they were - so I walked up with them. During the walk it became clear to me that they were going to interview for residencies at the U instead of med school admissions. It was only a little embarrassing and mostly funny. I think I was about the same age as they were. Anyway, going with them made it easy to find where I needed to be.

Both interviews I had were pretty laid back - perfect for me. I could not have asked for it to be better. It was a great experience overall and I hope I am accepted there. The interview could not have gone better for me but I know there are a lot of other well qualified applicants. So, we will see what happens. I will probably have to wait until March or April to find out if I am accepted. Such a long wait. I am just glad to know I have done everything I can.

So, I figured I needed to post at least once in May.

The MCAT is tomorrow... I haven't really studied all that much still. I guess I was burnt out and cocky enough to decide to try it without studying too much. I took a practice test the other day and got a 33. I would be happy with that. So, today I am reviewing equations and physics concepts, photosynthesis, TCA cycle, a few o-chem reactions, and a few general chemistry things. I also need to practice writing a few 30 minute essays as well. I feel ok about it and if I had to guess my score right now it would be somewhere between 30-34. I hate that it will be a whole month until I see the results.

Work is going well still. I finally start working full time this week after vacation and MCAT. Really not a lot to say there but I enjoy what I am doing and I really like the other people I work with.

Erin is about to have the baby I think. We thought she might have it today or tomorrow but it looks like as long as she keeps taking it easy she will make it past the MCAT. I really don't want to get to Boise to take the test and then get a phone call from Erin on her way to the hospital. Probably not going to happen though.

And, since it is a bit of a pain for me to get my pictures on the computer here at my parents you get this random one from the internet. Enjoy.

Just a week and a half until graduation.

A couple things have been decided:

We plan on being all packed up and moved out by the 15th. Rick, my brother, is building an apartment on his property in Rupert for us to live in; we will be in the ward with him, my sister Leanne, my nephew Josh, and a few other people that I knew growing up. It will be different to be in a ward with so many people I already know.

Also, I would really like to buy this camera when we get our money from the economic stimulus package:

I spent a long time looking at different cameras and considering the budget and desired uses to reach this decision. Just ask Erin, she was/is sick of me looking camera stuff up. With this camera the mystery photos can be much better. By the way, another mystery photo should be on its way soon.

On another note, I LOVE Nutella. I used to buy it all the time when I was in Chile because it was cheaper than peanut butter, and of course because it tastes good.



Just the other day I thought that I wanted some. Then I really NEEDED some and we finally went and bought it. I was very happy. I am also going to send in two proofs of purchase to get a free Nutella t-shirt, I won't even have to pay shipping and handling.

Things I can't have now

Here is a list of expensive things I want but can't have for a long time. They are in no particular order:

-A nice SLR digital camera
-A good road bike
-A new computer (maybe an iMac)
-Trailblazer (probably around 2001 year)
-I really want a drum set. - One thing that makes this really expensive is that we will probably have to be living in a HOUSE before this is possible.

That's all I can think of for now.

Job situation +

So, in the middle of last semester I stopped working at Melaleuca. I had recently been offered a couple different jobs at the time that I couldn't take but I was very confident I could find another job soon. I didn't really think about the fact that this is my last semester. NOBODY will hire a student during his last semester, what was I thinking? After a while I just gave up on finding a job for the semester and changed my focus to getting a job lined up as quickly after graduation as possible.

Around here (eastern Idaho) I could find a job for $15-20 an hour with a psych degree. We would really like to live in or near Rupert for this year and a half between graduation and going to med school. It would be nice to have family close by for a while because who knows where we will be for then next 7-8 years after that.

I am talking to a couple places in Rupert right now trying to see if I can work there. I have had a hard time getting much feedback from one that pays better but it sounds like I can pretty much count on a job at a different place (if I take it) that doesn't pay quite as well and would only give me 30 hrs a week until the end of May when I could get 40 hrs a week easy.

Anyway, that's a little bit of what has been going on in my head the last few days. There is also another place in I.F. where a friend of mine works that I could maybe get into if nothing works out in Rupert. It will be nice to get this all worked out so we can get ready and enjoy our time away from homework and the like. Hopefully we can end up in Rupert and make some decent money. If you know anyone in Rupert who wants to give me lots of money let me know.

As a small tribute to the place I grew up I am posting this picture. For some reason this sight has always come to mind when I think of Rupert. This particular picture makes Rupert seem like a pretty big place because of the extra lights and people walking around. There is even a sign that says "Historic District". Only big cities have historic districts right?



So, maybe this will be a long post and get way off the original topic but seeing that picture of Rupert made me remember the time my nephew Kris and I went around town and tried to figure out what kind of things missionaries in Rupert would take pictures of. Here are a couple pictures I found from that day.

This picture is funny. It was in the older part of town, I wonder why they chose to paint their garage that way. I look wierd in this picture too. Oh well, I don't usually look like that.

This one is probably my favorite. Good ol' Prince Rupert. They made this around the year 2000 I think. Some people tell stories about Rupert being named like it is because of some guy's name on a mail bag. I personally go with the story that attributes the name 'Rupert' to a royal circus bear of the same name who fell out of the train as it passed by what is now the city. The search and rescue team set up camp and never left.

Here it comes...

The 31st will be a day of revelation.

We find out if the baby is a boy or a girl.

AND

Lost comes back.

As far as the ultrasound goes, we will find out what we have been waiting for and questions will start being answered. You know, picking a name, Erin can buy a cute girl or boy outfit.

Lost is pretty exciting too because we get to find out what happened with this "rescue party" from the end of last season. I have been waiting for this longer than I have been wondering what sex the next baby would be because Erin wasn't even pregnant at the end of last season. The main drawback of course is that although a couple questions will be answered, it will probably just give me a ton more. Like this one --Where was Juliet in Jack's wierd future-flashback thing from the last episode? Does anyone else care about her at all? I really started to like her there for a while.

I am ready for a day of surprises.
