Summer

This week has been kind of cool here in Rexburg. The wind has been blowing, and a couple of mornings i've been cold at the park. Its depressing. It makes me feel like summer is already ending, when it seems like it just begun. I love everything about summer-time! I love being outside, going camping, wearing shorts, swimming, biking, even the heat! I like being barefoot outside, laying in the grass to read a book, and going for early evening walks. Summers here are so beautiful, I always think that I want to move back after grad school. But then the winters hit and I want to leave as soon as I can. Its so frigid - below freezing temps, horrible wind, and snow that is so frozen you can't even enjoy it. I like the 4 seasons, but when I grow up, I want to live in a place that has a little bit longer summer, and a shorter winter than here.

i love my chacos (and my tan line), graham crackers and milk, riding my bike, summer, going swimming, eating out, minor league baseball games (we went to one last night), and little pink shoes.

i love waking up before Ana, how I feel when I've been productive, laughing with friends, cuddling, a clean house.

i love my family most of all!

our weekend

So, we spent the weekend in Boise so Dave could take his test. It was a lot of fun. On Friday night I got to see my old roommate Laura and her new husband, since they are in Boise for the summer. It was so fun to see them! I've missed her this summer. We talked and joked and laughed really hard, but also talked about other stuff. They are great people and I can't wait until they are back! On Saturday I went with my sister and her kids to the community pool. I love swimming and I love summer! Ana had a blast in the water. She even accidently got dunked, but we got her up quickly, she coughed a time or two and was back crawling in the water. Also this weekend - Ana started walking! She's not walking everywhere yet, but she usually starts off walking, falls down, and continues on her knees. I am so excited! Unfortunately, we left our camera at Laura's so not only did I not get any pictures of Ana loving the pool in her new strawberry swimsuit, but we won't get any new ones for a couple weeks until Laura gets here. Sad. But the weekend was fun, Dave did well on his test, and we made it back in time for church where I did sharing time then to dinner at our neighbor's. It was a happy weekend. Here is a picture of me and Laura from back in the day.

a random video

The other night, I was rocking Ana and my mind drifted back to when Dave and I were dating. I remembered this incident and had to chuckle to myself. Since I can post videos now, I thought I'd share it, even though its kinda embarrassing. We had been dating about a week or 2.

Isn't it interesting how quickly you fall out of "courtship" mode. I'm pretty sure if Dave did this today, I would be annoyed. A lot of days, I forget to laugh at myself. I'll have to work on that.

Day of Judgement

Today was Dave's Optometry Admissions Test. Let me just say, my husband is a genius. I've been somewhat nagging him about his study habits... or lack there of. Honestly, I thought he should study way more diligently than he did. The test is based out of 400 points, with 320 considered "competetive" for your application to be accepted. Our friend studied all summer and got a 350, and we were amazed at how well he did. Well, Dave took it this morning and scored a 370!!!!! Isn't that awesome! I am so proud of him and I promise I won't nag him about his studying anymore. He's such a smart guy!

Confession #2

is probably one of my favorite movies right now. And #2 (premiered last Friday) is just as good. The first time I saw #1, I thought, "what is this movie?" But when I realized it was a made for TV Disney original, I loved it! I've always loved the Disney Channel. Remember The Lizzy McGuire Movie? I saw it 3 times - in the theaters - and bought the soundtrack and I was 19. But don't let that deter you from HSM. Both are quite excellent! I think one reason I love them so much is because I loved high school and I performed in the show choir and in West Side Story and Annie. So watching these movies, I could almost see me acting in it. I would have loved it! Anyway, are plot for both 1 and 2 are fun and very feel-good. And the show is completely clean. There aren't even any girls in bikinis. I highly recommend them!

P.S. That picture of Ana a couple posts ago was taken on Memorial Day. She and Dave fell asleep on my Grandpa's hammock. Then I just edited it using Picassa to add the blurry affect and make it black and white. Its one of my favs of her sleeping.

My apron

I finally finished my apron. I really like how it turned out. My kitchen is red, so that's why I chose to do my apron red. Here I am modeling it (even if its not the best picture, you can see the apron.)

Ups and Downs of Everyday life

*I've been going to the park a few times a week with some other moms in the ward. Its nice to get out of the house.

*Ana's first words - "hi", "car", "cracker"

*Dave and I watched a lightning storm at 10:30 the other night. It was really cool!

*Its been kinda cool lately, not at all like last August. I hope summer isn't leaving already.

*Ana woke up this morning at 6. I rocked her back to sleep, but it didn't last long. I listened to her crying on and off for about 20 minutes before Dave brought her in to me at about 6:50. I wasn't ready to be mom yet.

*I've been working on a few sewing projects. My apron is almost done (I'll finish it today and post pictures) and I fixed the elastic in a skirt. I just wish I had a seperate place to do them instead of my kitchen table.

*Dave takes his Optometry Admissions Test this Friday in Boise. Wish him luck! I'm excited to visit my sister and friend who live there.

I'm a tropical storm!

I was excited to read "Erin makes landfall in Texas." My name is just one of those names that, although its pretty common, there aren't many things that use my name - songs, restaurants, nothing. So, finally I made it to "tropical storm."
