Ben Folds

I like Ben Folds. I wasn't as big a fan of 'the 5' but I like the solo stuff a lot. This song is interesting. It's been around for a while but I just saw the video for it for the first time today. I really like the opening piano part with the cello. The song is called Jesusland, which may be offensive to some people, but looking past the title, if they can, those same people would probably agree with what he is saying. Take a look:

So, what do you think? Do you think it is inappropriate? What exactly is he saying?

"Beautiful McMansions in a row," I love that line. For a country chock full of people beating their chests and porcaliming how they're Christians, we sure have a lot of hungry, homeless people out there, don't we?

I was a big fan of the Five. His solo stuff is pretty good. Songs For Silverman really grew on me. I still can't listen to "Late," without thinking of Elliott Smith and choking up a little. It's true. I'm a baby.

Of course everyone has different interpretations, but Folds' idea was what Jesus would experience walking through America today, staring from the center of a city and going outward through the suburbs and beyond.

Wow, anonymous - that could be anyone...

Songs for Silverman grew on me as well. Pretty quickly.

so Dave...i was walking through wallgreens the other day and they had a bunch of dvd's selling for $1. the first one i saw was the little shop of horrors and i was taken back in time to when you thought you could attack Audrey II. I laughed out loud just picturing you jumping on top of the cardboard and then landing flat on your back. ohhh the memories!
