We had a picnic in our backyard yesterday. I love how Ana just laid down on the blanket like she was so comfy out there. I've really been trying to take in these last few days of warm weather. I wish I could bottle up sunshine so that I could have some in January... and February ... and March.I hear a lot of people say how fall is their favorite season. The cooler weather, the harvest, etc. Admittedly, fall is hard for me. For me it means the long winter coming, and I really have a hard time in the winter.
I love summer. I love the combination of hard work and carefree-ness. (Is that a word?) I love working in the yard and camping and fishing. I love fresh fruit and going for walks and bike rides. Mostly, I love the sunshine and the warmth.
This is the summer of my life. Motherhood is hard work. You sow seeds, hopefully good seeds, you tend and take care of your little children and the harvest seems so far away. "Summer is for working, weeding and cultivating those seeds--while fighting the heat and the sweat."
It is so easy for me to forget to bask in the sunshine and the warmth of these mommy days. I get so caught up with the work, that I forget the light. And there is so much of it.
Find the sunshine everyday, and then the harvest will be sweet. Maybe I can bottle it up and save it for winter.
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. ~Albert Camus

What a great post. I will admit that I'm an Autumn lover, haha. But Summer is my next favorite season. Like you, I love the warmth and the fun... mostly because I HATE the snow and cold of winter. But you have to remember that I grew up in Seattle, so I love the rain and am never happier than when I can wear jeans and a tshirt or a light sweater, and that's what the Fall is all about. :)
